LamenessLameness is not a disease but an indication of pain or malfunction of structure or functional origin. Lameness can be classified as weight-bearing or non weight-bearing and vary greatly in severity. It can often affect the other limbs. It is frequent for a lesion in one limb to cause secondary soreness or lameness in another area in the same limb or in any of the other three limbs. This usually happens in an attempt to protect the original injury. Another situation that can occur is referred to as a complementary lameness, which involves a lameness developing in one of the opposite limbs. |
