Heart Disease

There are several types of heart disease, which occur in various parts of the heart, that are common among pets. Most can be avoided by preventing obesity and routine exercise.

• Endocardium: Inflammation due to bacterial infection, degenerative valve disease and blood cysts

• Myocardium: Loss of cardiac control and degeneration of cardiac tissue

• Pericardium: Fluid in the pericardial sac

• Heart attack

• Other conditions that weaken the heart, such as hypertension, thyroid disease, diabetes, and kidney disease
